About

Top-ranked programs at a top-ranked school

The School of Public and Environmental Affairs is a nationally ranked academic institution located on the campus of Indiana University and home to a Masters of Public Affairs program that’s ranked number one in the nation.

We are part management skills, part science, and part humanities. We focus on governing, managing, and leading. We prepare students to address the complex issues that face society today—issues one field of study alone can't solve.

And the world has noticed. We’ve been recognized many times over for our unique programs and outstanding faculty, including these latest rankings from U.S. News and World Report:

#1 MPA Program

#1Nonprofit Management

#1Public Finance and Administration

#3Public Management and Administration

Innovative SPEA Connect Online Programs

The SPEA Connect online programs—the first online programs offered by a highly ranked school—are another example of SPEA’s leadership in public affairs education. Our online MPA and graduate certificates are designed to prepare talented professionals to take their careers to the next level, while studying where and when it’s most convenient.

SPEA’s MPA Program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA).

Become a leader, make a difference

The term ‘public affairs’ in SPEA’s name—rather than public administration or public policy—reflects the many roles that SPEA graduates assume in multiple sectors of the economy throughout the world.
